Conversations and books
Our Story
Good Mourning is unique as it's the first and only grief club at Queen's University that is not associated with counselling or therapy services. We are designed by students and completely run by student.
For university age students, grief is a subject that is often overlooked and considered "taboo." When young people experience loss, it can be isolating as it feels like others can't relate at this point in their lives.
Good Mourning provides an important platform and community for young people to talk about grief in the contexts of books in an open and accepting environment.
There is no pressure to talk about your own lived experiences since we always have books to fall back on. We aren't a group that will shy away from difficult conversations.
Books are a great way to connect with others over shared experiences and discuss potentially difficult subjects without fear of "bringing down the mood".
If counselling is what you're seeking, we offer a collection of external resources here on the website.

Not Counselling |
If you are looking for a place with open conversation surrounding the concepts of grief and loss, join one of our monthly meetings to be a part of a community that understands.
|
The club carries out all activities without the intention of offering any counselling services. We simply aim to acquaint members going through similar struggles.
|
Our team of volunteers have helped build the club from the ground up. They are committed to meeting the club’s objectives and connecting community members. Volunteers also run and contribute to our blog, an online sphere dedicated to exploring and discussing grief through the written word.
Affiliated with Queen's University
Good Mourning was officially ratified by Queen's AMS in the fall of 2020 and can be found on the AMS club website.
